How does neurofeedback work?
Electrodes are applied to the scalp to listen in on brainwave activity. We process the signal by computer, and information about certain key brainwave frequencies is isolated. We show fluctuation of this activity back to the client as audio visual feedback (movie, video game etc.), who in turn works to influence his/her own brain activity level following our instructions: some frequencies we wish to promote. Others we wish to diminish. Eventually, with training the brainwave activity is “shaped” toward a more regulated performance.
The frequencies and the specific locations on the scalp that we target are specific to the conditions we are trying to address, and to the individual.
